Psychoanalytical Praxis |
Why Psychoanalysis? Starting with the exploration of neuroses, psychoanalytic research began the modern examination of the field of mental disorders according to scientific criteria. Over the course of nearly 150 years of research history, there is thus a broad spectrum and wealth of knowledge available on the etiology, psychogenesis, and presents a comprehensive and continuously growing theoretical framework for phenomena of mental disorders and their treatment, with over 100,000 scientific publications. Clinical observation, empirical research, theory formation, and concept formation are closely linked to the development and refinement of clinical pictures and corresponding treatment techniques. Modern psychoanalysis is in interdisciplinary exchange and closely intertwined with neighboring natural sciences. Insights from psychoanalysis and the application of the psychoanalytic method are applied in developmental psychology as well as in neuroscience, and vice versa, forming together an innovative and well-founded system of knowledge acquisition. The broad spectrum of influencing factors is considered in a bio-psychosocial (BPS) theory of the development of mental regulation, thus enabling the treatment of a range of mental disorders (adjustment disorders, dysregulations) with multifactorial etiology patterns according to the latest scientific criteria.
